Developing the brand image of an artisanal clothing brand committed to providing a premium experience of traditional Indian wear from the comfort of our homes
Traditional Indian clothing is deeply engrained in their culture and history but as the nation becomes more modern, they are being challenged by fashionable Western wear that can be sourced online and delivered to their doorstep. Maniila is a revolutionary brand that aims to even out the playing field, enabling people to experience traditional Indian wear from the comfort of their homes.

The orator
Maniila is built upon the ideals of traditional Indian art and culture. One of the most prominent cultural figures is an orator who narrates stories to a crowd, teaching them values. Similar ideals shaped Maniila's brand personality to be insightful, engaging, and captivating to people of all ages.

The Handshake
The Handshake represents different scenarios- agreement, delight, satisfaction, and trust. Each of these is an important reward of the process from discovery to delivery. The Handshake fits within the wordmark as a constant celebration of all these scenarios.

Colours that elevate the sense of value
Maniila believes that affordable clothing can still have a premium look and feel. With a lush colour palette inspired by dyes from ancient Indian art and fashion, Maniila aims to create a blend of a premium look and affordable prices.

Artsy typefaces inspired by the craft
Maniila's typefaces are a balanced blend of geometric san-serif type that represent their drive to deliver the best quality without cutting corners, and humanist type whose wide ligatures, uneven x-height, and blunt serifs pay tribute to the generational art of printing patterns on fabric.

Motifs printed by history
Maniila's brand imagery is heavily reliant on photography. Brand motifs complement the photographs, being shapes that are inspired by the shapes of block-printing moulds traditionally used to print patterns on fabric.

Maniila in the world
Maniila is an artisanal brand that aims to bring traditional wear to a more modern, tech-savvy society. It adopted a robust online and physical presence to catch more eyes and create impressions rapidly.

Being the brand designer of Maniila was a journey of self-discovery where I observed traditions I've grown up with, in a completely different light
